We’ve seen a fair few videos of massive avalanches in our time but this one had us sit up and take notice for several reasons:
1. Where in the hell did all of that snow come from? It’s hardly like there’s a metre of fresh sitting up on those upper slopes waiting for some clueless punter to set it all off with a beautifully executed heelside traverse is there? If we hadn’t just seen a waterfall of snow brutally rip down that face we’d probably have been tempted to go for a leisurely spring hike up it…
2. Like an Only Way is Essex starlet going through hair and make-up, we get to witness the snow turn from white to brown in a matter of seconds.
3. Ooh look a rainbow!
4. Judging from the excited yelps and exclamations of “ooh la la!” from the onlooking climbers, they seem particularly unphased by what they’ve just witnessed. Should someone maybe explain to them that there could be another one of these badboys waiting to go off directly above them?
