Gore-Tex have announced a new pro fabric (made for extended, high-end use) for autumn/ winter 2013/14. They say that the latest fabric has “improved ruggedness and increased breathability” compared to previous incarnations.
The waterproof, windproof and breathable three-layer fabric now has up to 28 per cent improved breathability (clearly you can’t put a percentage increase on ‘ruggedness’), and has been subjected to extensive testing by a number of mountain guides.
“The endurance tests that we have conducted with select mountain guides have enabled us to assess the long-lasting functionality of these products in the kind of conditions that outdoor enthusiasts will typically encounter on their tours,” said Tom Gray, product specialist at Gore.
Brands including Armada, Burton, Norrona, Oakley, Patagonia, Quiksilver, Scott and The North Face will use the new laminated fabric in their 2013/14 ranges.
