The Dew Tour has changed format this year – rather than having three separate events, the organisers put all their eggs in one proverbial basket, staging a longer contest in Breckenridge, Colorado. With Ion Cameras on board as a title sponsor, the Ion Mountain Championships over the course of last week. The men’s slopestyle finals took place yesterday, in conditions that could charitably be described as “challenging”, or less politely as “fookin’ shite”. Despite the gale-force winds and limited visibility, Mark McMorris managed to throw down some suitably technical runs and claim the men’s title. Chas Guldemond, got second place while Norwegian ripper Stale Sandbech claimed third. Jamie Nicholls, the UK’s only male competitor was unfortunately eliminated before the finals.
In the women’s comp, which was held in slightly more clement conditions on Friday, Spencer O’Brien and Enni Rukajarvi claimed second and third behind Jamie Anderson. Aimee Fuller unfortunately didn’t make the finals either, after failing to land her first run and pulling out of her second. Check out the highlights of the women’s event here.
