Conceived somewhere between the top of the Hemel Hempstead drag lift and the bottom of a pint in the bar, The Shred Collective is our latest snowboarding initiative, aimed at giving something back to the UK scene. It’s a collaboration with event specialists FBBB and clothing company Moog Royale, which aims to give a little bit extra back to the UK scene at a grassroots level, by providing new rails, boxes and bonks for snowdomes to use on freestyle nights.
Let’s face it, riding the same obstacles week in week out isn’t always ideal, and while the creativity of the UK’s park shaping teams means park setups are rarely identical, it’s always nice to have new features thrown into the mix. We’re hoping that by getting everyone who rides regularly in the UK to contribute to the collective, we can help create features that will help drive our own progression. So how do you get involved?
Well, Moog Royale have created a limited edition run of t-shirts, all profits from which will go into funding the first Shred Collective rail or box – or Project One as we’re calling it. Once enough people have bought the tees (which proudly list the number of the project they’re funding on them) FBBB will be on hand to help design and create the feature and one lucky slope will be given it, absolutely free.
New projects can be pitched by anyone, and approved online, so any slope in the country can be a beneficiary. It’s not always feasible for domes and slopes to fund new obstacles, but there’s nothing to stop those of us who actually use them from banding together to do it.
