18-year-old Candian snowboarder Mark McMorris has just walked away from the X Games with two gold medals. Here’s how he took the Big Air crown – with a monster triple cork over the 80 foot step-up jump that looked designed to encourage triples. Although Torstein Horgmo also layed down a triple cork – and a better one at that – McMorris pipped him thanks to a superior combined score.
“X Games is something that I have watched since I was super young and all of my idols have been here,” he said. “To end up on top of the podium in the biggest event in snowboarding is such a good feeling. All the support has been insane.”
What do you think people? Triple corks seem to be here to stay – do you give ’em two thumbs up, or dare we raise the aerial skiing debate? And how do you think Billy Morgan’s triple rodeo might have been scored if he’d been in Aspen?
