It’s not long now til the 2nd Winter X-Games Europe, where some of the biggest names around will descend on Tignes for three days of events, and our own Jenny Jones will be looking to score another gold. If you’re lucky enough to make it along, it’ll be worth swinging by the legendary Loop Bar in Tignes-le-lac. From 14th-19th March, the famous venue will play host to the Looking Sideways project.
Billed as a refreshing alternative to the madness of the Games, Looking Sideways aim to offer a different experience to the usual apres, with the emphasis on creativity. As well a 4-foot miniramp out on the terrace, Loop will boast an art exhibition from Dalikfodda’s Scoph Scophield, a James MacPhail snowboard photo gallery, and live music from the likes of Ben Howard and Duke. Coinciding nicely with the end of the X-Games is the Dalikfodda Rock Night, featuring live sets from Jett Black and TruckFighters.
All events are free, and there will be plenty of Vans and Burn giveaways over the week, including a raffle in aid of P.O.W. (Protect Our Winters). The organisers are hoping to roll this out to other events, so it’s worth a look if you get the opportunity. Head to wearelookingsideways.com or check out their Facebook page to find out more.
