Brand new for this season the Salomon No Drama is set to take women’s freestyle riding up a notch. Taking inspiration from Salomon’s award winning Huck Knife, the No Drama is a dynamic and lively snowboard that packs one hell of a punch. In the music industry Madonna is known ubiquitously as the Queen of Pop, in the snowboard industry The No Drama is garnering that name for itself. One has won the Whitelines Choice award for ‘Best Newcomer’, and the other has been excommunicated from the Catholic Church. Stay tuned to find out which is which…

The Salomon No Drama is an ideal board for the unapologetic park rat. The true twin shape, energetic profile and robust construction tick all the classic boxes for a freestyle snowboard. It’s definitely more of a beefy option for an experienced and confident rider, think boosting the big kicker line instead of playful flatland butters.

The profile boasts a strong positive camber section up to the contact points, with a smidgen of rocker outside to ease up the ride slightly. Camber is the de facto profile of choice for those who prioritise a lively and dynamic ride. This powerful midbody functions as a springboard and allows you to load up the board for explosive ollies. It’s less work when you’re popping off a lip or onto a rail, and delivers that high performance power you can see so clearly in the Huck Knife. While the camber is responsible for your dynamic movements, the small rocker zones help to create a more catch-free ride and mellow out your scuffed landings a little.

As with most boards built for total park destruction, the No Drama employs a true twin outline. Your weight stays centred over the middle of the board to give you optimum balance while you’re airborne. Whichever way you bite the bullet, be it switch landings or in runs, you’ll be glad for the centred stance when you’re trying to keep it stylish.

Salomon has blunted the tip and tail of the No Drama, cutting down the weight in these crucial zones, making it easier to spin and throw round in the air. It reduces the overall running length of the board, without altering the on snow feel or cutting the effective edge.

There’s two main types of hookups you can have while snowboarding, Salomon have detuned the edges in the nose and tail of the No Drama to avoid the metal on metal kind, but unfortunately can’t help with the ‘apres beer goggles’ kind. You win some, you lose some…

Salomon really hit it out of the park with the internal makeup of the No Drama. When you pop the hood you’ll see their sustainably harvested Aspen core, milled out to varying thickness lengthwise from tip to tail. Thicker and therefore stiffer sections sit either side of your bindings, driving power to the contact points, a thinner zone is directly underfoot giving you more board feel engaging your toe and heel directly with the edges.

This is a lively and agile snowboard, capable of throwing it down between the ropes. “Bloody Nora, this is a firecracker of a board, a real bottle rocket with gas to go for miles. As far as I’m concerned this is the most exciting new snowboard I’ve ridden in years. I’ve always been a bit salty of the hype surrounding the Huck Knife, and I feel very confident to say that the No Drama lives up to said hype.

The conditions were classic Scottish springtime- gale force winds, sideways rain, and icy pistes dotted with death cookies. The No Drama was dynamic and lively from the get-go, everything you put into this board, it gives back tenfold. A little boost off the back leg and you’re airbone, popping off anything and everything.

Slap landings felt nicer than they have any right to, and it gave just a smidgen of forgiveness when I was getting blown back through spins. Even in the dodgy conditions it seemed to manage to hold some semblance of an edge. I rode it a bit longer than I would normally choose to, so had some extra stability on hardpack and at speed. The only downside it that it took so long to come out, but I loved it so much that I am now am the proud owner of one.”
