Freddi Kalbermatten has been one of Burton’s big guns for around ten years now, having made Burton’s global team alongside his friend and riding buddy Nicolas Muller as far back as 2001. In the middle part of the last decade (feels weird saying that doesn’t it?) he made his mark on snowboarding in a big way, earning himself the nickname ‘Stompermatten’ with his big-hitting Standard Films parts, and his habit of stomping everything in sight. Last year, it looked like he might have been going through a bit of a rough patch, with his contract and his future at the Big B allegedly on the line. But Freddi has come back as strong as ever in 2010-11, with a sweet part in Absinthe Films’ latest opus Now/Here and – certainly if this is anything to go by – a new focus on hitting up natural terrain.
