Slash describe the Aurora as a “futuristic whip made for aggressive riders who seek ultimate response and control”. Nail. Head. Hit. It’s packed to the gunwales with a bunch of tech. Some of it you’ll be familiar with; some of it you’ll never have heard of.
Start with the Dual Camber, which looks similar to hybrid cambers from other brands. The twist – quite literally – comes as a result of the Knock Out technology. The core is CNC milled in-between the inserts. This not only makes the board extremely lightweight but also gives two very in-dependant flex patterns underfoot. It’s proper gas pedal riding, with levels of feel that allow for insane edge control. Counterintuitively, perhaps, the Aurora isn’t twice as catchy, despite having double the cambers. Where they meet, it creates a central contact point, where the board can pivot from.

Naturally, that kind of profiling needs to be reinforced. Sat below the top sheet is a carbon triax layer. This cuts the weight further but, more importantly, provides a level of responsive flex and dampening resulting in a board that holds rock steady long after you get the jitters, yourself.
Any remaining chatter on the ends is cancelled out with the Landing Strip – a combination of kevlar and carbon stringers – running from the inserts out to the nose and tail. They’ll help increase the pop, too. After all, with a name like Aurora, you’d hope people would need to crane their neck upwards to see you from time to time.
For those who prefer life on terra firma, the Redline Sidecut blends a multi radii directional sidecut down the length of the effective edge. In layman’s terms, the sidecut progressively tightens towards the tail, allowing for every turn to tip, grip and catapult you out of the exit.
It might not be to everyone’s taste, but there’s definitely something for everyone in the Aurora. Competent all-mountain chargers who prioritise finding empty pistes – keep an eye on this one. If you don’t see it in the shops you’ll see it flashing past you on the mountain.
