Whilst Burton may have the current audience for quick entry bindings, Flow were the OG’s of getting you strapped in hassle free. Are fuc For those less familiar with the rear-entry system, let us break it down for you. You flip the highback down, slide your boot into the binding, and then flip the highback back up. Voila, you’re strapped in.

The Flow NX2 bindings are made for the shredders who want more aggression from their ride. With Flow’s stiffest and most responsive lightweight aluminium baseplate, you can be sure to get decent edge control while attached to the NX2s.

Not to worry though, these bindings aren’t just for the hardcore chargers. The Glass-filled Nylon Highbacks are flexy enough for you to be able to have a fun time while strapped in, good if you’re just looking to muck about on the mountains. This modular highback technology also separates the lower and upper parts of the highback – meaning strength, flex, and support will be targeted throughout the highback precisely where it’s needed.

If quick and powerful turns are your thing, and you’d like to blast off the lift as fast as the lycra clad chaps on skis, then do yourself a favour and give the Flow NX2 snowboard bindings a go.

Tester’s Verdict

Rob McCreathWhitelines

“I’d kept a wide berth of Flow bindings up until this season, but found myself testing out no less than three pairs over the course of the winter.

I’m pretty tall and about as flexible as a Jacob’s cracker that’s been left in a de-humidifier overnight but, I have to say, I’ve never had any real issues with bending down to strap my bindings in. Unless you’re on perfectly flat terrain, I think the easiest way to get into Flow’s is to kneel on the snow and put your foot back in from that position. Sitting on your arse is definitely out the question, so maybe just consider how much easier you’ll make the strap in process with a pair of these.

Be aware too, when riding on the chairlift, the rear highback has to fold out, over the heel side edge, instead of down and on top of the baseplate. I only discovered this when I was out coaching a couple of groms last season in Tignes. I stood up, off the chair, got my foot stuck against the rear highback and proceeded to fall arse over biscuit, becoming trapped under the chairlift.

“How about that colourway? It’s definitely striking. If you’re the kind of person who likes to match your boot laces with your goggle straps then the combination of the NX2 with Nidecker’s asymmetric slice and dicer, the Tracer, will be right up your street”

Anyway, how about that colourway? It’s definitely striking. If you’re the kind of person who likes to match your boot laces with your goggle straps then the combination of the NX2 with Nidecker’s asymmetric slice and dicer, the Tracer, will be right up your street.

That pairing gives some idea to the kind of rider these are best suited to. As one of Flow’s more powerful and responsive bindings, the NX2 is packed with lightweight response and sturdy construction to deliver a really secure fit and response on every axis. For me, it felt a little too ‘trapped in’. I will, however, say that they were mighty comfy.

It just wasn’t for me. I think if you’re into the rear entry system and have been riding Flow Bindings and know what they’re about, you’ll love them. Fix them onto any snowboard and you’ll no doubt feel a step up in response. It just wasn’t my day on these things. Fortunately, I had two more still to try…”
