Chris Corning’s go to board – the Never Summer Shaper Twin. This shaper series sender is a full-on performance driven board, capable of stomping massive kickers, laying down gnarly carves and able to turn on a dime.

The hybrid profile puts rocker in between your feet while placing camber underneath and outside the bindings. With rocker in between the feet you’ll get a nice surfy feel, while the camber gives you pop, aggression and stability. The camber underneath the backfoot is slightly more aggressive than the camber in front, which makes the tail of the board more aggressive – you’ll be snapping in and out of turns.

“However, the more experienced riders will appreciate the power and snappiness this board has to offer”

Hitting features and landing switch is easy despite the directional twin shape, so go ahead and take this thing for a spin in the park – you’ll be sending it to the moon and back. However, riders who prefer more traditional board feel underfoot might not be too stoked on this in the park due to the hybrid profile.

With a Durasurf Sintered Base, created exclusively for Never Summer, you’ll be picking up speed easier than the town junkie. The high-density base is fast, durable, and light – providing superb performance.yea

The Never Summer Shaper Twin is a versatile all mountain ripstick, covering anything from powder to park riding. A Word of warning though. This is an aggressive weapon so if you feel like you might still need some time to master your turns, you might be better off looking the other way. However, the more experienced riders will appreciate the power and snappiness this board has to offer.

Tester’s Verdict

Paul WoolProfessor

“Described by the rep as all-mountain Twin, the Shaper Twin definitely has more to it than meets the eye – it’s got an outlandish 10mm taper and a huge sidecut. It is Chris Corning’s board of choice so I was keen to check out its freeride capabilities.

“For general riding and carving it handled some varied terrain very well, feeling really stable everywhere, little to no chatter and kept its cool at speed”

For general riding and carving it handled some varied terrain very well, feeling really stable everywhere – little to no chatter and kept its cool at speed. Like every Never Summer I’ve ridden the Shaper Twin has an impressive edge that digs in and holds exceptionally well. Lovely and snappy in and out of carves, the board handled long, low, and fast turns more akin to a stiffer board. I was definitely aware that it is torsionally stiff but it seems to softens up in the tip and tail. It has a certain density and confidence underfoot, without feeling dull or heavy.

The large sidecut and dense core did seem to affect responsiveness and confidence in the park, it seemed somewhat removed in to and out of rails and boxes. However, it felt solid and stable on bigger kickers, great pop off the lip, and comfy landing that handled speed well.

Definitely a major all-mountain board leaning more to the intermediate advanced rider who likes to go fast and hit some big shit!”
