Go listen to The Who playing ‘My Generation’ on their 1970 album ‘Live At Leeds’ – the sound you can hear pulsing away as a backdrop is Keith Moon, a drummer on top of his game, cruising at altitude and having a blast whilst at the same time playing a mad cacophony of beats and rhythms. It’s a spectacle to behold, and all the greater knowing that he probably exploded the toilet backstage before coming on, and was most likely already planning the best route to the nearest swimming pool for his post-show drive. His life was where genius met shear danger, with a good helping of lunacy along the way.

Halldor Helgason is snowboarding’s Keith Moon. With the billion-and-one edits dropping each winter it’s all too easy to forget just how fucking good he is, how naturally it comes.

Totally in his element whilst making wanking motions mid-double backflip, sending huge wallrides or stepped-down back-lips, you can’t imagine him doing life in any other way, unless it’s setting up for the next bird bath.
