You’ve got to live a board with a Ronseal name. The Rome Mountain Division is built for hitting anything and everything – an all-terrain weapon if ever there were one.
The Rome Mountain Division has a setback camber profile, meaning that the camber bend sits underneath the back foot. As you move towards the nose, there’s a prominent rocker section. When riding the piste you’ll be able to hold a strong edge as normal, with no shortage of power as you exit a carve. When you get into the powder, the nose will naturally stay above the snow thanks to the upward bend, giving you the opportunity to scope ahead for your next hit.
“The carbon rods help you load up the rear of the board and increase the size of your ollies”
When you find something worth launching off, you’ll be glad of the two-inch-wide strip of Zylon that runs from nose to tail. That might sound like something out of a science fiction story, but it’s very real. It boasts more tensile strength than even carbon, and even Kevlar, so it delivers more pop while barely affecting the overall weight.
Also, look at the topsheet and you’ll see two protrusions sticking out near the tail. These are carbon rods, which help you load up the rear of the board and increase the size of your ollies. They also affect the torsional stiffness, making your edge changes quicker and more powerful.
Thanks to the ‘AirPop’ core, with hollow sections for a lighter load, the Rome Mountain Division just hangs in the air. The sidewalls are pretty clever too; between two sections of the kind of ABS material that’s found in many boards, there’s a stretchy rubber layer that helps to cancel out some of the chatter that can lead to foot fatigue. It’s also got terrific shock-absorbing qualities, so it’s able to reduce the damage when you ding your edge.
Finished off with a super-fast sintered base, the Rome Mountain Division is packing plenty of top tech in a refined all-mountain wrapper. No matter where you end up this winter, having this board under your feet is highly recommended.
