Huddersfield Halfpipe Incoming! New Dryslope Plans Are Underway

Big rumblings in Huddersfield, and some good news for the UK for once – there’s something new on it’s way…

Right now they’ve only just submitted planning permission, but I think we’re allowed to get a little bit hyped anyway. It’s looking like Huddersfield’s new HD1 centre development will include a full snowflex slope, and – according to reports from the Huddersfield Examiner – a fresh halfpipe for the UK scene too!

Bundled in with the obligatory shopping centre, and the existing football stadium, cinema etc. the slope’s set to be part of major works in the area thanks to a 9 million pound loan from the council.

Set to be built by Briton Engineering (the people behind the now derelict Sheffield site, among many others) it would offer the first UK halfpipe since the Sheffield fires in 2012, as well as other freestyle elements and ‘obstacles’ for experienced riders (moguls, anyone? No?), with two T-bar lifts, a nursery slope, and a snowsports base and shop too. All sounds pretty spot on to us.

We’ll be keeping an eye out for full designs of the setup and further details as and when we get them, so watch this space.
