This is not a joke. We really, really thought it was. If you haven’t seen it already, this is the official staff and volunteers uniform for Sochi 2014.
Luminous, multi-coloured, patchwork quilt jackets with bright blue pants and matching beanies. Could they have chosen a worse outfit? As one reader pointed out to us, there wasn’t much choice of outerwear in Eastern Europe after the fall of Communism – but this is just taking the piss!
I have a confession to make… I will be wearing this exact outfit
We recently had the bright idea of reviving Fashion Police, a beloved old series that takes the piss out of the worst outfits on the mountain this season. But I now have a confession to make. I will be wearing this exact outfit come February – as I’ve signed myself up to work behind the cameras at Sochi 2014. Words fail me.
This – I think – is what they call karma.
But I am thanking my lucky stars though that I’m not one of the German athletes.
These multicoloured atrocities are actually infinitely worse than the Sochi staff uniforms. Floral orange pants with inflated parka-style jacket. And the beanies! Oh the horror! Have they never heard of the phrase ‘less is more’?
So, to keep in spirit of fashion police, I shall be accepting my fate locked for eternity behind the bars of Fashion Police’s prison – and asking for you all to keep sending those outfits that are infinitely worse than the Sochi uniform. After all, I’m going to need some company in there….
