If you haven’t heard or seen much of Stale Sandbech yet, check this shit out. Stale is a Norwegian snowboarder whose silky skills as a grom have been catching the eye of the industry for a few years, but who is now making the transition to fully fledged team rider at Rome Snowboards. What sets him apart (other than a ridiculously casual style) is his all round ability – he’s almost equally comfortable throwing down double corks in the pipe, front 12’s on giant booters or mind-bending rail combos – keep an eye out for the sickening nose press to 360 out on the creeper ledge (1.11). Incidentally, Stale is the brother of former snowboard pro-come-photographer Frode Sandbech, who just shot this rad cover for Onboard European Snowboard Mag. Much of the footage in the clip above was gathered at the Nike 6.0 D-Pad session in Norway, where he was riding alongside the UK’s Jamie Nicholls; check out another video from the week – featuring both of them – here.
