Nicolas Müller surprised the snowboarding world earlier this season with the news that he has left Burton to join Gnu.
Well, if you still couldn’t quite believe it, here’s the first footage of everyone’s favourite powder hippy riding his new board on his home mountain of Laax. It comes two and a half minutes into this first episode in a new series about the Swiss resort and its formidable army of shred talent.
It would appear that Nico has chosen the 2015/16 Gnu Zoid, a radically asymmetrical new snowboard that we checked out at ISPO this month. It also looks like the change of deck has affected none of his fluid style – check out the trademark powder butter on 2.44, and the tweaked out front three which follows.
The rest of the riders in this edit are also worth a watch, notably Paul Chevalley – who pulls off one of the strangest off-camber, off-the-toes front threes ever on 1.28.
