Klaudia Medlova Lands First Double Backside Rodeo in Women’s Kicker History

Could this years Nine Queens be one of the most progressive sessions in snowboard history? It certainly is for Jamie Anderson, who stomped a frontside 1080 that would put the shakes in Peetu Piiroinen; and now Klaudia Medlova has taken the proverbial bull by the horns to put down a double backside rodeo – the first in women’s kicker history.

Elena Hight has been throwing some in her pipe runs for a few seasons now, but this is the first one we’ve seen out of the pipe. Anna Gasser also has a double invert in her repertoire, but it’s of the cab double underflip variety, which in all honesty is a fairly similar looking trick, but different. The first female rider to get a double invert down was Kimmy Fasani, who put one down on a park kicker and in the backcountry easy as you like.

Klaudia’s been going for the double rodeo attempts for nearly 5 years now – we first saw her try one on the Nokia Snowboard Tour back in 2010, and at the Dew Tour in Breckenridge in 2010 as well.

We’re hyped that Klaudia has got one round at one of the most exciting events of the season so far. With Jamie and Klaudia pushing the envelope of womens snowboarding, we reckon it’s only a matter of time before we see a whole host of rider stepping up the ladder to join them.
