Why we chose the Salomon Sleepwalker Snowboard: The groovy Salomon Sleepwalker not only looks rad as balls but is great value for money for any park and jib fiends out there looking to throw themselves down some rails without dinging up ££££ worth of board.

The Sleepwalker has been a great value choice for a few years now and for this season Salomon have decided if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. There’s no new tech on the 2022 model, just a fresh new lick of paint to brighten things up after a pretty shitty couple of seasons for most of us. Aren’t they thoughtful?

So if you’ve ridden or even just liked the look of last years Sleepwalker then you know the drill. It’s about as much bang for your buck as you can get in a park deck.

Who Is The Salomon Sleepwalker For?

Style is the name of the game when it comes to ripping the park and the sleepwalker has bags of it. Spare bags in fact as it’s such a steal at this price point you can pick up some steezy garms to rep at your local hill with the pocket full of change you’re about to walk away with.

Shape, Profile and Sidecut

A true twin shape should always be your weapon of choice when committing to park lines, even if you’re comfy landing that directional, all mountain boat switch you don’t want to have to revert everything or take off looking all janky on the next feature. So the sleepwalker has that covered straight off the bat.

Moving on, Salomon’s Rock Out Camber profile is flat between the bindings (perfect for locking onto rails), camber under foot for pop and then rocker out through the nose and tail for pressability and forgiveness if you find yourself a few degrees short of your desired rotation.

The EQ Rad has a blended radius around the binding zones that moves into straight lines between your feet and out to the tip and tail which helps to create a quick turn initiation but with a loose, playful feel that lends itself to park riding.

Construction and Materials

The Sleepwalker features Salomons Popster core profile which utilises different thicknesses of wood to create pop without requiring tonnes of additional materials. Made to take a beating the core is built using high density Aspen wood in the rails and inserts, this is coupled with some Biaxial Fibreglass to ensure the board is light, strong, and consistent in its flex and feel from day 1.

The sidewalls are reinforced with rubber pads in the high pressure zones which help to dampen things down, reduce chatter and make the board feel a little softer than it actually is.

The Extruded EG base is perfect for park riders, tough as a boot and easier to repair than sintered alternatives should you find yourself grinding a big fat groove down the middle by mistake.

Roundup

The Salomon Sleepwalker is essentially the Salomon Villain but with some of that extra, pricey tech removed. But that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s any worse, just a heck of a lot cheaper. Honestly if you’re still on the fence just load up some footage of Tommy Gesme putting it through its paces and decide for yourself, if it’s good enough for Tommy chances are it’s good enough for you too.

One of the best value boards in the market the Sleepwalker is a safe choice for anyone looking to rack up as many park laps as possible with a fun, reliable board under them. Beltin.
