Why We Chose The Stereo

Two of snowboarding’s wildest spirits – Ethan Morgan and Halldór Helgason – helped shape this new deck. As you’d expect, it’s built to play – with an almost flat nose profile that defies the Triple Base norm.

Who Is The Stereo For?

Riders who want to get creative all over the hill will dig the Stereo. It carves confidently on groomers and in-runs, while the true twin shape and playful flex still invite butters and jibs whenever the mood strikes – an easy sell for anyone who splits their day between resort ripping and park laps.

Shape, Profile and Sidecut

The Stereo’s True Twin shape pairs Bataleon’s 3BT contouring with SideKick 2.0 tip uplift and a tri-radial sidecut, blending multiple turn radii into one edge for a smoother, more predictable exit out of turns. Unlike the more aggressive bevel found elsewhere in Bataleon’s range, the Stereo’s nose sits notably flatter – trading some of that signature edge roll for a bite that feels closer to a conventional camber board on hardpack. The SideKick shaping still adds a touch of scoop at the tips, smoothing turn initiation and keeping hang-ups to a minimum. Underfoot, a medium camber height makes for a lively ride and provides locked-in edge hold on groomers and in-runs – further evidence that this is definitely more versatile than your typical park twin. 

Construction and Materials

Wood-wise, the Stereo uses Bataleon’s “Core Core” construction – full poplar reinforced with hardwood beech stringers that strengthen the board’s backbone, reinforce the inserts and add a touch of extra pop. Layered on top of that is a separate helping of carbon stringers, placed to fine-tune flex and edge response without adding unnecessary weight. The headline construction news, though, is HyCap: a full cap layup that runs the length of the board’s contact zone for cleaner looks and sharper edge response, paired with poured urethane FlexWalls at the tip and tail to soak up impacts and add durability where your board usually takes the most abuse. Biax glassing – the traditional two-way weave – keeps the flex playful and forgiving rather than stiff, which suits the Stereo’s creative ambitions. All of that sits on a Hyper Glide S base, Bataleon’s everyday sintered option: durable, reasonably fast, and faster still if you actually remember to wax it.

Halldór and Ethan’s fingerprints are all over this one, and it shows: the Stereo splits the difference between playground toy and proper all-mountain tool better than most true twins manage.
