Best Snowboard Bib Pants

While ski-style salopettes with braces are still thankfully the reserve of ageing Frenchmen – dungaree-esque bib pants have become a much more frequent sight out on the mountain in recent years.

Many outerwear companies have at least a couple of options now if you’re keen to kit yourself out with this workwear-inspired alternative – keeping any midriff snow at bay and locking in warmth a little more than traditional snow pants.

The flip-side to this high-rise fit? Toilet time can be a bit more of a hassle depending on how you layer up (and the presence of a drop seat). But as many will agree, it’s a small price to pay if you want a more relaxed waist band, more pocket options and a generally cosy bit of kit…

Here’s a handful of our favourite bib pant options from the 2016/17 range. Skip to your favourite brand below, or scroll on down and see what takes your fancy.

686 Hot Lap Bib Pants | Women’s Black Magic Insulated Overall

Hot Laps and Black Magic are the order of the day for 686 who’ve got two 40g insulated options with very different fits for the fellas and ladies.

The men’s Hot Lap has a 15k/10k fabric and a looser cargo pant look, with the upper section of the bib ditching the 40g insulation and just using shell material – so you get the benefits of a higher waist, without the bulk, or the risk of overheating.

The ladies Black Magic bib is slightly less tech with 10k/8k shell fabric and critically taped seams, but boasts a tasty satin lining with tarot card print detailing.

Airblaster Beast Bib | Sassy Hot Bib | Stretch Krill Bib Pants

Airblaster have built up a bit of a name for full length body suits and the like, with both baselayer and outerwear options proving popular, so it shouldn’t be a surprise that they’re bang in there with bibs too.

The Beast Bib (left) is arguably the most tech, with a 30k/20k shell construction, fully taped seams, Airblaster’s ‘Vortex’ water repellant fabric and much more – all of which are shared with the Sassy Hot Bib (center), which offer’s similar tech but tailored to a women’s fit.

Then the Stretch Krill bib (right), offers a slightly less tech, but still thoroughly adequate, 15k/10k shell that has added stretch for freedom of movement.
