Mons Royale’s Bella Tech base layer top is a perfect choice if you’re looking for an all-year all-rounder. This baselayer works equally well on sunny spring days as it does when the temperatures drop below zero.
Hailing from the Land of the Long White Cloud, it seems only natural for Mons Royale to produce high-quality merino wool base layers. The Bella tech top is a blend of 83% Merino Wool, 13% Nylon and 4% Elastane, resulting in a fabric that is stretchy, fast-wicking, and quick-drying.

The merino sheep reside in the high alpine hills of New Zealand and are exposed to the most extreme weather conditions, a factor their wool has grown to adapt to. Whether it’s blazing hot or freezing cold, the wool adapts to the weather conditions, which is why merino makes for such a great base layer fabric. When it is cold, merino wool is your best bet to stay warm while, when it’s hot, the highly breathable wool prevents you from overheating.
Another plus with merino wool is that, being a product of nature, it is also 100% biodegradable. By spending a bit more money on a merino wool base layer, you won’t just be doing yourself a favour but Mother Nature too.
The women’s specific cut and tight fit also flatter your body, meaning you can easily wear this top on its own either while hiking up a hill or later on during the Après.
The model in the photo is 5’4” (165cm) tall and wearing size S.
