Pretty odd to think that while our days are gradually geting shorter and cooler, down under in the land of kangaroos, echidnas (that weird hedgehog-like marsupial thing at 2:46) and boardshort wearing surfer dudes, things are beginning to heat up for spring. Anyone that’s ridden in Australia will be able to tell you that southern hemisphere spring snow conditions are sort of like putting a choc-ice in a sauna: rock solid one minute, liquid the next. If the point of these Oi Mate! webisodes is to convince us northern hemisphere snow snobs to pay our antipodean brethren a visit, they’ve definitely gone the right way about it, I mean, you have unusual backcountry terrain at Thredbo, really well shaped and maintained park features at Thredbo and Perisher and a banging skatepark in Jindabyne. If you’re lucky, or unlucky as the case may be, you might also see some boobs on balconies…
As a final note, how good is Matt Sedunary? The back five at 1:46 was damn stylish and he can also clearly hold his own on the rails. Of course Jye Kearney also has a shot in here with a massive, laid out, topless backflip. There’s also some footage from the massive features that made up the Stylewars slopestyle course. We really enjoyed this episode.
