Oakley Jib Vid gets underway

http://mpora.com/videos/hchMoODZG The Oakley Jib Vid competition is getting underway in Austria as we speak, bringing mayhem to the slopes of Mayrhofen.

The contest, which gets teams of three people to shoot and edit a two-minute snowboard film in just 28 hours, has long been regarded as a marker of film-making talent. These days attracts impressive entries from all over Europe, with top film outfits like Isenseven entering teams. The team-list this year is looking particularly intimidating…check it out here.

But despite the fact that Ed doesn’t exactly look like the picture of composed confidence in this pre-match interview posted by our friends at Onboard, we reckon the Whitelines/Westbeach team stand a damn good chance.

With Westbeach riders Billy Morgan and Andy Nudds taking care of the shredding, and the talented Mr Nangle behind the lens, how can they fail to do well? Have a little watch of the videos this has produced together so far – the Westbeach European Airtimes One and Two, and the whole of the Westbeach Goes Dutch series – if you don’t believe us.

Whether they win or not though, one thing is certain – the comp will be producing some pretty farkin’ sick little shorts, which we’ll be posting up in the next few days. Here are a few of our favourites from previous years to keep you going ’til then…

Here’s Johno Verity’s winning entry from 2007, which is funny as fook

Here’s Whitelines’ own effort from 2008, which won us third place!

And here’s an extended version of Johno’s style-police film from last year…which is also pretty amusing

And here’s last year’s winner – the Isenseven crew’s very polished-looking effort
