If you’re a snowboarder turned parent (and more and more of us are these days – where did the 90s go??) then you’re probably wondering how long you have to wait until you can get your sproglet on a board of their own – and bag yourself a winter holiday into the bargain.
Well fortunately it’s easier than ever to teach your kids to ride, as Tammy from the UK-run Mint Snowboard School in Morzine explains in this nice vid. It’s also super fun for them. There’s plenty of great equipment on the market including the Burton Riglet reel (an extendable leash) which is really useful for controlling the smallest of shredders, and if the groms in this edit are anything to go by they’ll most likely be better than you before they’re old enough to start school!
There’s no denying that the advent of freeskiing has led to competition for ownership of the youth market – for those kids who started out the traditional way i.e. via skis, it’s all too tempting to buy just some baggy pants and think “why bother switching”? Well, we all know why snowboarding’s better(!!), but if you want the next generation to experience it first hand then take some notes from Tammy here and our check out this entertaining earlier article on teaching your kids to snowboard.
