It’s no secret that Jake Blauvelt had a banging winter last season – not only did he film no less than two rad parts for Absinthe’s Now/Here, he also put out a series of sick webisodes, called Jake Blauvelt, Naturally. And now there’s this – a compilation of all the best bits from the Naturally series, with a whole load of extra bangers thrown in for good measure – there’s so much good stuff here, it leaves you wondering how many mountains Jake didn’t ride last year!
Like everything the dude does, it’s all about natural terrain, working out the contours of the mountain and flowing through the line. And while we all know that he’s got the doubles into powder, he’s not throwing anything more than a 7 here. Instead, he’s dropping monster pillow lines at ridiculous speeds buttering threes off cliffs and throwing up plumes everywhere. ‘Cos that, as he explained when we spoke to him for our Jake Blauvelt interview back in Issue 94, is what it’s all about.
I like to turn into stuff, and slash out. There’s nothing risky about doing a little turn or a little butter into your main feature – I just find it fun!
Having watched this, we have to say it looks like a hell of a lot of fun! Oh, and how rad is that tune by the way? 65 Days of Static rock…
