How mad is this avalanche in the Tirol region of Austria? There’s barely any other snow around, yet there’s a freakin’ river of snow winding its way down the mountainside… It reminds us of this much quicker, bigger spring avalanche that was captured on film in France a couple months back.
These kind of wet-slab avalanches are caused by rain, warm temperatures and prolonged melting and are technically the slowest moving type of avalanche. That said, however tempted you might be to slide/ride down it, these are still destructive beasts – can you imagine getting dragged down the mountainside at the bottom of this?
We’ll pass ta.
