Boy do we miss the Mack Dawg Productions films. Over the 20 years that they were around, MDP dropped some seriously memorable shred flicks. From the legendary (think Shakedown and The Resistance) to the more recent (such as Picture This and Double Decade), MDP have earned a place in history as one of the most successful snowboard film production companies ever.
One of the films that really got this author stoked on snowboarding was their 2006 offering Follow Me Around. It was nice and bright, the editing was tight, the riding was impressive and the music was upbeat. Overall as a snowboard movie it was just really easy to watch – nothing was overly arty, the shots were easy on the eyes and the tunes were super memorable. This joint part from Heikki Sorsa and Jussi Oksanen (apologies for the terrible quality) captures the essence of that perfectly. This part saw Shiny Toy Gun’s ‘Don’t Cry Out’ added to many a snowboard iPod playlist around the world and for good reason. If you hear a memorable song that you discovered in a snowboard part it triggers memories of the snowboarding associated with it – in this case Heikki sending it into pristine powder and Jussi stomping huge switch backside 1080’s. It’s another classic in our eyes.
