Billabong Air & Style 2012 – Peetu Piiroinen wins!

Peetu has a glorious ring apparently. Tight fit.

Peetu Piiroinen‘s consistency paid off once again over the weekend. Flawless double-corks on a bastard-cold night in Innsbruck meant that he once again walked away with the Billabong Air & Style title.

Peetu was going huge and landing deep all night

Surely this ranks among the steeziest doubles of the contest season so far? He chucks it hard, but once he’s airborne Peetu’s got it locked up. 1260 degrees spun with relative ease – and they don’t come much more stomped than that. Fellow Euros Seppe Smits and Niklas Mattson rounded out the podium. Fair play to Niklas – unlike the others, he had to fight his way to the final through the qualifiation rounds!

Seppe may have been beaten to first place, but his score still ensured that he finished at the top of the TTR Big Air rankings. Not bad for a Belgian! Watch the full highlights below:

1. Peetu Piironen (FIN)
2. Seppe Smits (BEL)
3. Niklas Mattson (SWE)

Seppe sends it for the flat countries
Niklas Mattson came through qualifiers to finnish a surprise third - stoking out UK industry dude Tom Kingsnorth, who'd recently signed him to his glove company Transform.
