Ready to go full geek? There’s a lot of tech going into this month’s Every Third Thursday – and to be honest, it’s not all stuff we really understand…
Stick the headphones in, ollie off a kicker, and listen to the bass drop-out.
The basic theory however, seems to be that you take the movement sensors from something like an iPhone, do some wizz-kid shit that links it to a programmable App, and then embed all the wiring between the layers of a snowboard; and then the possibilities are endless!
The practical example that they’ve chosen here is taking a track of music and linking different board movements to audio filters – like that trainer advert from a few years back. But this time you ollie off a kicker, and listen to the bass drop-out. It’s basically an alternative way of engineering what kids have been doing with dubstep tracks and ‘extreme’ videos for years, so that snowboarder affects the music in real time.
As they’re saying – it’s not just music you could control with this, but we’re struggling to think what else might make sense, or just be worth trying out anyway… Any ideas?
