In the midst of the snowboard event calendar, there’s one comp that stands out thanks to its ridiculously massive and creative set up – The Audi Nines. Remember Sebbe De Buck’s double front flip off the 10m high launchpad last year? Or when Sven Thorgren put down possibly the cleanest backside triple rodeo ever? Yes, we do too.
It didn’t come as a huge surprise to us when we heard that this year’s Nines would be cancelled – what with the global pandemic and all. Even so, it still felt a bit like Christmas was being taken away from us. For one week of our season, social media timelines are backed up with world firsts, insane slams, high fives and slopestyle setups that genuinely make SSX Tricky look a little stale by comparison.

To ease our pain, the kind people of Audi Nines have just dropped a 26-minute long documentary, Nothing Quite Like It. The short film takes a look at the riders and crew involved in the event, what motivates them and what goes into making one of action sport’s most exciting and original competition formats.
Will it ease the pain or rub salt in the wound? Who knows. Watch it and find out for yourself. What it will do, however, is get you frothing for next season, and for the 2021 Audi Nines. It might be a bit of a wait to get there, but how good’s it going to feel when we get back?
