Dave Lee’s really showing his age in the latest episode of Every Third Thursday, as he heads to the DIY superstore to buy some materials for a cheap, homemade board.
Making your own stick is nothing new, but it’s one thing to chop down a pow shape and quite another to make something with metal edges, fibreglass, a hydrophobic base and other features that you’ll find on an off-the-rack model. Still, the experienced board-builders at Signal were up to the challenge, and even shunned their own presses and fashioned an improvised one for extra middle-aged points.
After a quick spin in the Brighton park, it’s apparent that the end result is pretty darn good. So if your power tools are gathering dust, here’s something you can try.
Tune in next time, where Dave will presumably be designing a board that tells kids to get off your lawn.
