The Arctic Challenge 2014 – Competition roundup video

Here’s the first footage from the final day of The Arctic Challenge 2014, where riders such as Iouri Podladchikov, Kent Callister and Markus Keller were among those guinea-pigging a new approach to halfpipe snowboarding, masterminded by Terje Haakonsen. Danny Davis took the top spot, and you can read what our man on the ground Danny Burrows had to say about it. In this video, the riders give us their two cents.

According to Terje, we won’t know what kind of impact it’s had for a while, and we’ll wait to see how much influence this approach has on future contests. For Danny, though, it’s been invaluable, and he goes as far as to to say that tho kind of thinking “will save competitive snowboarding.”

This is by no means the last of the footage we’ll see from TAC; the plan was to shoot a full-length documentary at the event, so as soon as there’s more word on that we’ll have the latest on

In the meantime, what do you reckon? Will we see more events like this next year? Will there be a wallride incorporated into the X Games pipe in 2015? Or is the highest level of halfpipe too far gone, and still all about spins and spectacle? And is that slo-mo Terje method the best thing since sliced bread?
