We Brits may not have as much of the real stuff as our continental cousins, but there’s nowhere with better indoor slopes (well, except maybe Holland. And to be fair to them, that’s all they’ve got).
With that in mind, it’s only right to have a good old annual throwdown to determine who dominates the dome. This year Manchester’s Chill Factore will play host to the Picture British Indoor Championships on Saturday 11th October 2014.
The format is an interesting one: all riders jam hard for 90 minutes before the field is cut in half. There are then no less than four short sessions on different areas of the course, each of which will whittle the field down further until the cream of the crop progresses to a final 15-minute jam that will determine who makes the podium.
Those in the Under-12 and Under-16 categories (both of which, as anyone at The Brits 2014 can tell you, are packed full of talent these days) will get another chance in a ‘two runs, best run counts’ final, should they not have made the cut in the open session.
There’s cold hard cash to be won for the top three men and women on the day, with medals and additional prizes available to those in each age category.
