Young UK ripper Aimee Fuller has proved she has what it takes to compete with the big girls by claiming third place in the New Zealand Winter Games World Cup Slopestyle event over the weekend.
The eighteen-year-old rode strongly to take the bronze medal in a field that featured some of the best riders in the world. Aimee was narrowly beaten to second place by Jamie Anderson, the current TTR World Tour leader. Meanwhile Kiwi rider Shelly Gotleib took the gold on the slopestyle course at Wanaka’s Remarkables resort.
Meanwhile, the UK’s female halfpipe riders also posted good results, with Lesley McKenna coming 24th, while Kate Foster came in 34th. With the World Cup halfpipe circuit acting as qualifiers for this season’s Winter Olympic Games, the competition was particularly stiff. Last year’s TTR World Champ Kelly Clark was beaten into second by Liu Jiayu of China, while Gretchen Bleiler took third.
