Issue 97 – October 2011

The season is fast coming around again, and you know what that means right? Yep, Whitelines is back! The first issue proper of the winter (not counting the 2011-12 Buyers’ Guide) is packed with all sorts of rad features and new regulars to get your stoke levels high before you head off to the slopes. Here’s what we’ve got in store for you this month.

ON THE COVER: FREE SNOWBOARD DVD – HOMIES IV
The French crew lead by Nico Droz return with another epic installment in their Homies series. Homies IV: Boiling Point sees the crew hit up the craziest spots yet, and enlist the talents of some of Europe’s finest riders, including the UK’s very own Sparrow Knox. Well, well worth a watch.

DAN BRISSE INTERVIEW
We’ve got a massive interview with our cover star Dan Brisse – one of the most progressive riders… well, ever! His death-defying, bungee-assisted urban shredding combined with his backcountry prowess make Dan one of the most exciting snowboarders on the planet today, so we thought it was high time we caught up with him for a chat.

CALIFORNICATION: BALLS DEEP IN TAHOE
Last season Andy Nudds, Billy Morgan and Matt MacWhirter headed out to the legendary Lake Tahoe for the season. When Whitelines went out to visit, the boys were living the American Dream – complete with massive trucks, huge hamburgers and the occasional indulgence in sexual deviance…

TURN ON, TUNE IN, DROP IN
The link between music and snowboarding goes all the way back to the earliest days of the sport, and today the soundtracks we shred to play a massive part in almost every aspect of the sport – from halfpipe riders’ iPod selections to snowboard film soundtracks. Ed Andrews examines the history of this relationship, and looks at how music can actually make you a better rider. No seriously!

SCANDIS HIT SCOTLAND
We in the UK love a bit of Scottish riding – getting out and riding in our very own snowy backyard. But what would a bunch of big-name international pros make of the fences, the heather and the gale-force winds? Veteran photographer Dan Milner took Hampus Mosesson and Markku Koski north of the border to find out.

PLUS:
Whitelines’ two new columnists share their opinions on the shred
8 snowboard boots under £200 tested
