A lot of people dream of giving up the daily grind of a nine-to-five to make a new life for themselves in the alps, but very few actually have the inclination or the balls to see it through. Hats off then to James and Gemma Greenway, a young couple who’ve quit their jobs in law and recruitment and headed off to the alps to start their own snowboard chalet company. According to James, the decision was a pretty spontaneous one, ‘inspired by a visit to a very badly run chalet we visited in March this year’. What started off as a throwaway idea has now become a full-on lifestyle change for the pair, who bought a converted farmhouse in the Three Valleys village of St Martin De Belleville.
Their two person company, which they are calling Green Mountain Chalets, is all about offering the highest levels of attentive service to their guests. As James puts it: ‘The chalet is run by us, not chalet boys or girls, so we look after you properly.’ The couple are hoping that little touches like bath robes and slippers, free WiFi, a Nitendo Wii and walkie talkies to take out onto the slopes will help them sell out their 13 beds this season. In fact, they’re so confident of their chalet-running abilities that they’ve given us a week’s free accommodation to give away to one lucky reader. All you have to do is answer this simple question. If you’ve read this far, you’d really have to be a moron not to get this…
