Quiksilver launches the first online snowboarding game: ‘Quiksilver King of S.N.O.W’

This innovative online snowboarding competition gives riders from all over the world the chance to pit their skills against each other on a dedicated website.
Never before has a snowboard competition been open to everyone with a snowboard – in the world – where the best survive and move to the next level. And all this online !

How it works:
Participants in the game (which is free and open to players of any age from anywhere in the world) must sign up to the King of Snow website, and every two weeks until the end of March, a pro snowboarder will name, and perform the next level trick.
Participants then have 2 weeks to go out in the snow, film themselves repeating that trick – with as much style as possible – and then upload the trick onto the website. The tricks, which will be voted on by Internet users, will be used to establish rankings for the best snowboarders. The winner, after 8 rounds, will be the Quiksilver King of S.N.O.W.

To win over the judges, competitors will have to demonstrate good technique combined with an impeccable style. Riders who sign up for the first trick will have to complete the other seven for a chance of making it through to the final. Whenever a rider fails or misses a trick, he or she will be awarded one letter from the word SNOW, and if all four letters are obtained, that rider will be eliminated!

The first round of the game kicked off on 15 December with a “switch backside 180 indy” performed by Hampus Mosesson. Competitors should post videos of their trick attempts on the website by 29 December.
The winner of each round will get Quiksilver prizes and the King of S.N.OW champion will walk away with a cool $5,000 in cash, on top of the Global title.

Three Quiksilver Team riders are taking part in King of S.N.O.W.
The Swede Hampus Mosesson, star of the film “Pony Tale” and a big name in European freestyle snowboarding; the reigning double World Snowboarding Champion (half pipe and big air) and first winner of the TTR Pro Tour in 2005, Mathieu Crépel (Fra); and finally, the worldwide snowboarding phenomenon and hero of “That’s It, That’s All” movie, Travis Rice (USA).
