Roxy is thrilled to congratulate snow team riders Torah Bright and Sarah Burke on their recent award nominations. Both ladies were nominated for a 2009 ESPY Award in the Best Female Action Sports Athlete category. Torah Bright was also nominated for a Teen Choice Award in the Best Action Sports Athlete – Female category. Both pros are coming off a phenomenal 2008/2009 winter season, where they both claimed Gold at the Winter X Games, and Torah went on to win the US Open of Snowboarding in March.
One of the most technical and photographed female snowboarders in the world, Torah Bright is fresh off a stellar year where she won every major contest she entered, racking up the gold medals and showing the world why she is a favorite for gold at next year¹s Olympics. This is her first ESPY and Teen Choice Award nominations.
A pioneer in women’s freeskiing, Sarah Burke is no stranger to the ESPYs, in 2007 she was the first skier (male or female) to ever win an ESPY Award when she took home the trophy in this category. 2009 was a marquee year for Sarah, which saw her claim her third consecutive X Games Gold medal in the Superpipe competition.
The ESPYs gather top celebrities from sports and entertainment to recognize the past year in sports by noting their major achievements and remarkable performances.
