Owing to this weekend’s forecast and the deteriorating snow conditions in the Nevis Range park, unfortunately we have to postpone Saturdays Highlander competition. We left it as long as we could to make the final decision and although the wind forecast has now eased slightly, the mild weather and rain over the last few days have thawed vital areas of the park and hampered the construction of features. This combined with the low cloud and precipitation forecast for the weekend has left us with no option. We are now looking into other dates to try and run a comp at Nevis Range.

The Highlander series is Scotland’s premiere freestyle snowsports competition. The annual event attracts skiers and snowboarders alike and quickly establishing itself as the “Must do” comp in the UK . This years event has accepted TTR 2 star status for the snowboarders, a further benefit the snowboard competitors.

After an initial setback for the Lecht leg of the series the outlook is looking good for the Nevis Range event on the 14th March. A recent cold snap has induced good old Mother Nature into providing a flurry of white stuff in anticipation for next weekend.

The comp itself will be 2 runs in the heats to get your steez on. Best on show will be taken through to the finals which also consist of 2 runs – best score wins.

The itinerary for the comp is as follows:

Registration and bib collection (Base Cafe at bottom of gondola) 8:45-9:30am
Practice 10.15-11.15am
Reshaping 11.15-11.45am
Qualifiers 11.45-1.45pm
Reshaping 1.45-2.15pm
Finals 2.15-3.15pm
Prize giving 4-4.30pm

Entry will cost as follows

Ski entries – £15
Snowboard – £25

Whaaa? Snowboarding costs more? Well the £25 includes registration for TTR. Any subsequent Highlander event you enter after this initial payment will be £15.

Ticket prices for the Nevis range are £26 for Adults, £15.50 for the kiddies.
