Dates announced for British Snow Tour 2011/12

It’s all change of the British Snow Tour in this, its tenth year.

Billy Morgan at the Brits. Can he get the threepeat in 2012?

The Tour will now concentrate on three major events, all on real snow, starting with the British Indoor Championships at SNO!zone Castleford in September. Then in October the likes of Colum Mytton, Andy Nudds and Sparrow Knox will be among those competing in the BST Invitational at the Ski & Snowboard Show. Finally, the Brits will run as normal in March 2012.

BST Director Spencer Claridge explained the decison thusly: “Despite having flown in the face of commercial pressures over the past few difficult years of a global recession which has hit all sectors – slopes, retailers, sponsors and competitors pockets – the decision has been taken to consolidate the British Snow Tour into a three event Tour for 2011/12, so that we may bring it back in its entirety in future years”

While it may have been scaled back, the BST already boasts a collected prize purse of over £13,500 over five age categories. Damian Doyle will once again be crafting the features for the indoor comp, and the ranking system will factor in results from other events such as the Southern Freestyle Series.
