The 5th instalment of the Burton Hi 5 2011 Tour this week comes to us from the Chill Factore in Manchester. The Golden Shovel still up for grabs and with one more stop on the tour after this, the competition is fierce. A jibber’s dream or nightmare it looks as though the crew at Chill Factore pulled out the big guns, dug everything they have out the back and chucked it on the slope.
The top section was populated with boxes, pipes and a pair of kinks. The second with a couple of tubes, a down bar and a box. The third featured a picnic bench to box combo, a donkey kink, a down bar, a bench and the wodge with a massive launch pad. Closing the course was a hitching post, a gas pipe, and a deadly gas pipe combo. An intense run by any standard.
Throughout the tour judges have been looking for variation, originality and style within tricks. In layman’s terms: mastering the tricks we all know and love and then adding an extra element which makes the judges sit up and take notice and says something about who you are as a rider.
Chill Factor’s stop on the Burton Hi 5 tour pulled in the great and the good from the northern riding scene. Head and shoulders above her competitors with a front flip off the box Katie Ormerod took first place in both the junior and senior girls division. Will Smith smacked it in the men’s with a cab 270 to front board 270 out. Calum Paton came in at a close second.
Voting for the best laid park from the tour starts on the second of December on gonzilla.tv. The winning slope will earn two of Hi 5 Rail features and a trip for four of the park shapers to Morizne Avoriaz.
