And so we come to the last Whitelines of the 2014/15 season, with cover star Mat Schaer pointing the way to spring.
What’s more is that after a decade of captaining the good ship Whitelines, editor Ed Blomfield is striking out for pastures new – specifically, getting all digital and heading up the website that you’re currently visiting. You’ll find that his final issue in charge is appropriately packed with the quality features, epic photography, humour and all-round readability that were the hallmarks of his 60-issue streak. The mag will never be the same – at the very least, you can expect a severe drop-off in the number of puerile captions.
Here are just a few things you’ll find inside…
Land Of A Thousand Windlips
Volcanoes are funny things, and make for some of the most visually arresting shred spots around. Freeride legend Josh Dirksen and his crew saddled up on fatbikes to access the runs and runnels of Oregon’s South Sister.
Scott Stevens
Snowboarding’s very own Peter Pan – right down to the alliterative name – Scott Stevens approaches his craft with the same exuberance now as he did when he was a teenager. On a recent visit to the UK, we went for a few laps with one of the most popular riders of all time.
Extra Mature Shredder
Of course, even Scott will be old one day – but that doesn’t mean he has to give up the shred. None of us do, and as long as we take Pingu’s advice, we won’t make arses of ourselves either.
Long Way Up
It’s a bike-heavy issue this month, but Aimee Fuller‘s shred odyssey is pretty far removed from Dirksen & co’s. With boards strapped to back, she – along with Cheryl Maas and Sarka Pancochova – revved around Norway in search of snow and surf.
Plus:
– Is skiing still shit?
– Classic pipe tricks with Dom Harington
– Illicit looks at British snowboard pioneers
And much more! Pick it up on the news-stands today – or better yet, subscribe to get an unbeatable deal!
Cheers Ed. Long live print.
