Our only excuse is that the subject had been debated to death in WL Towers; at one point online editor Sam was placed on a 24-hour suicide watch after his colleagues’ circular and ultimately pointless economic discussions threatened to tip him over the edge.

But today’s news that a Scottish surf team will compete at the upcoming World Surfing Games in Peru has given us another chance to show everyone how the snowboarders of the north might fare should they ever go it alone.
