This weekend, a very special event will be going down in Grateley, Hampshire in honour of the late and great Nelson Pratt – the British snowboarder and keen cyclist who tragically took his own life back in June of last year.
Nelson’s ‘Tour de Test Valley’ event will bring together hundreds of Nelson’s old friends this Saturday to cycle the Hamphire roads that he knew so well.
Whitelines’ very own editor in chief Ed Blomfield will be joining this inaugural memorial cycle ride for Nelson this coming Saturday (September 7th) and naturally will be attempting the longest distance on offer – the 100 mile ‘Full Monty’!
More importantly, Ed will be raising money for a young charity called CALM, who campaign to help young men who struggle silently with depression, as Nelson apparently did. Suicide is, shockingly, the biggest killer of 15-34 year old males in the UK.
We’re not usually in the business of plugging charities on our website, but if all our thousands of readers gave just £2 via the following page he’s set up with his brothers (also taking part) we could raise a serious amount of cash in honour of a fellow rider.
Please give whatever you can afford – no amount is too small and every donation is massively appreciated.
