Here’s a beautifully shot and edited video by the arty folk at We Make Them Wonder – the same guys who put together that ultra slow-mo, RED One camera recap from this year’s Burton European Open. The film crew team up with Isenseven riders Marco Smolla, André Kuhlmann and Benny Deeg and head up into the remote expanses of Svalbard: a group of islands situated in the most northerly reaches of Norway, to ride some pow and shoot some film.
On the trip the guys session an abandoned former Soviet union mining town, descend rolling powder faces, and setup trip wires to protect themselves from inquisitive (and hungry) polar bears. There’s some good snowboarding here but it’s really the filming and editing that stands out in our minds, managing to achieve a great balance between riding shots, scenics and set-up/lifestyle shots and the resulting video is four and half minutes of exploratory, snowboarding gold dust.
