Why We Chose The Dang FL 2.0 MAG:

We hate to beat a dead horse, but a high-quality, magnetic goggle with a bonus lens for this price? Dang is really shaking up the status quo here.

Who Is The Dang FL 2.0 MAG For ?

You’re looking for a premium goggle, but aren’t looking to shell out premium money. Take the extra cash you might have spent and use it to put towards your eye-wateringly expensive lift ticket…

Lens

Dang uses a cylindrical lens with the FL 2.0 Mag, which bends equally along the X and Y axes; this low-profile curvature gives a distinct throwback look, and many riders feel this particular shaped lens fits more seamlessly with the lip of a helmet to avoid the ‘bubblehead’ look. Plus, it helps to keep the costs down, which we’ll always chalk up as a win. They’re coated with an anti-fog, anti-scratch coating so even if things are getting steamy with your holiday romance in the gondy, your goggs should stay fog-free.

The crew at Dang know that weather is a wily and capricious mistress, especially in the mountains, and when that storm comes a’rollin in and smashes your bluebird dreams to smithereens, they’ve got you covered. Just whip out your bonus lens as conditions begin to vary, and you’ve basically got a second goggle completely free. Again, two lenses for the same goggles- cost-effective! Come on, people, we’re trying to save up for a season pass here, focus!

“Their MAG-TECH lens swap makes it easy as pie to chop and change depending on the weather…”

Frame & Strap

And that, my friends, brings us to the lens change system. Now, Dang aren’t the first to do easy-change lenses, nor will they be the last, but can other goggles do it well at this price point? Riddle me that… Their MAG-TECH lens swap makes it easy as pie to chop and change depending on the weather, and voila, you can see again!

The best goggles are the ones you don’t even realise that you’re wearing. They’re not uncomfortable, they don’t rub, they don’t squish your nose down and leave you feeling like Voldemort- and this is partly down to getting the right fit for your face – but it’s also down to the goggle construction. Dang uses super cushy face foam to both give that premium next-to-skin feel and to stop wind worming its way through any gaps. The semi-frameless design both enhances the FOV of the goggle, and gives it a more malleable feel so it can conform to the contours of your face for a snug fit.

Roundup

Chris Beresford started Dang Shades to make high-quality sunnies, and to do it at a price that wasn’t insanely expensive. Has he hit the mark? Absolutely, and the proof of the pudding is in the FL 20 Mag goggs. Sure, there are more tech options on the market, but these make a helluva an impact at a fraction of the price and that to me, is worth its weight in gold.

Tester Verdict

Kaelen White

“The goggle fitment with the face felt very snug and was very glued to the face didn’t have any small air pockets that would allow wind through, which was very nice. The foam was plush and comfortable, as was the strap. The helmet-to-goggle interface was very clean with Smith helmets. With the plushness of the foam, I do wonder about long-term wear on the foam; will it deteriorate over time?  A longer-term test will need to be conducted for that. The only downside I find is the peripheral vision with the goggles; the frame with the foam seems to stick out a bit more than I’d like, impairing a bit of side-to-side vision, which may lead to issues with spotting landing while spinning.”
