The Salomon Pulse is a long standing member of the Salomon fleet. This entry-level men’s all-mountain snowboard has welcomed many into the sport and been a trusty friend throughout the learning process. It’s a no fuss, no frills snowboard that will take beginner riders and give them a proper introduction to the mountains.

Thanks to it’s forgiving flex and Flat Out Camber shape, it’ll keep you nice and steady whilst you get used to sliding sideways and won’t make you work too hard to get the output that you require.The softer flex will mean that it’s a bit more squirrely underneath at high speeds but while you’re still getting the hang of things, going mach 10 isn’t really your top priority. You’ll be able to keep it cruisy and easily have a play with presses along the groomers.

The Pulse has an extruded base which means the base will keep sliding without drying out too quickly and having the faff of it constantly being in the workshop, which means more time out on the hill for you. It’s not the fastest base on the hill, but it’s a more mellow pace to stop the board from running away with you.

With an Aspen core it’s on the heavier side of the spectrum. While you won’t be looking to strap this to your backpack and go hike for your lines, a denser core means improved durability and the ability to shrug off a few knocks. Salomon have added low density fibers to keep the boards forgiving playful flex so you can keep being creative with your riding on the mountain.

The directional twin shape puts just a little more volume in the nose but keeps your centred over the board, it’s a good place to be whether you want to practise 180’s across the piste, get on a box or two or try getting some time up in the air in the beginner park.

Salomon haven’t kitted out the Pulse with all the bells and whistles, but then again, why would they? This sits firmly in the entry level category, with a great price for someone looking to start their journey in snowboarding. Forgiving and playful, it has its finger firmly on the pulse of what’s needed for a novice rider.
