So this week’s website arrives a little later than usual, but don’t let that stop you from taking an interest, cos it’s one of our particular favourites, and well worth sneaking a peek at – it’s boardistan.com! The site, which bills itself as “The Independent Republic of Surf, Skate and Snow News”, specialises in shining a light into the murkiest corners of the board sports industry. It exposes marketing bullshit, points the finger at people and companies who are faking it and shares other amusing and/or alarming board sports-related stories that they stumble across on the world wide web.

With their trademark sarcastic style and slightly sneering wit, the anonymous Editors behind the site pull in content from all over the place, posting links to anything from Burton’s official website to random local newspaper stories. It is very much industry-focused – at one stage they had a poll asking something like “Are you: a) Snowboarder b) Skater c) Surfer or d) Jaded industry type who’s over it all.” So if you’re looking for sick videos of snowboarding, or want to see what your favourite pros are up to, then there are better places to head – but if you want to read a bit of dirt being dished or see companies’ comparative share prcies, then it’s well worth visiting Boardistan.
