Girl-specific clothing brand Nikita have announced the creation of their first flagship store in the Icelandic capital of Reykjavik. Never ones to do things by halves, the lovely ladies at Nikita have taken over a rundown four-storey house, which they are planning to strip completely to fit to their specifications.

By the time it opens, just before the start of the winter season, the house will have two floor dedicated to all things shopping. Nikita’s own collections will take pride of place among other items from selected cool brands.

The house will also provide a new home for the company’s designers and the fourth floor will provide a space for team riders to hang out when they visit Iceland. According to Nikita founder Heida Birgisdottir, the location of the store was never really in question, Reykjavik having been a continuing source of inspiration to the brand and its designers over the years. She said: “It feels like we‘re closing the full circle. Nikita was founded 10 years ago in our own store just a few blocks away from where we are opening the first flagship store now 10 years later.” She added: “We could have done it earlier, but we have just been too busy!”

In classic Scandi style the girls are holding a massive party on August 22nd to kick off their new exciting venture. With the long summer nights, the epic sunsets and all the Viking blood running in the veins of the locals, this promises to be quite some event.
